Endorsement from the Director of the Department of Forestry and Fire Management for the state of Arizona, David Tenney

"At a time when the whole world is watching California forests burn up, due in a large part to mismanagement, Richard Lunt knows it is more important than ever that we continue the fight to restore and save Arizona forests," said David Tenney, Director of the Department of Forestry and Fire Management for the state of Arizona. "Richard is one of a handful of county officials in northeastern Arizona that were critical in the formation of the Four Forest Restoration Initiative. He was persistent and forceful as he worked with the federal government, including the Secretary and Under Secretary of Department of Agriculture, the Chief of the Forest Service, congressional leaders in both the House of Representatives and the Senate as well as local and regional Forest Service officials in an effort to bring significant change to forest management policies and practices in Arizona. He successfully lobbied Congress in the effort to give the Forest Service the authority to offer 20 year stewardship contracts in an effort to attract industry that could ultimately restore and save Arizona's forests."

U.S. Senator Martha McSally (R-AZ) and Rep. Tom O’Halleran (D-AZ-01) on Friday, September 25, 2020, led members of the Arizona delegation in a letter to the U.S. Forest Service highlighting the need for action on the Four Forest Restoration Initiative (4FRI) in Northern Arizona to help reduce wildfire risk. Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), Reps. Ann Kirkpatrick (D-AZ-02), Paul Gosar (R-AZ-04), Andy Biggs (R-AZ-05), David Schweikert (R-AZ-06), Ruben Gallego (D-AZ-07), Debbie Lesko (R-AZ-08), and Greg Stanton (D-AZ-9) also signed onto the letter.
“In Arizona this year, there have been more than 1,600 wildfires and more than 700,000 acres burned which is more land burned than in 2018 and 2019 combined,” the Members wrote. “Entire communities, industries, and businesses across the state are waiting on the 4FRI project to move forward. The steadily increasing risk of wildfire combined with the economic uncertainty caused by prolonged delays means it is critically important for the Forest Service to expeditiously award this Phase 2 contract.”

Hector Ruedas Endorsement Letter

Endorsement Letter for Richard G. Lunt Candidate for Greenlee County Supervisor District 3

It is with great pleasure and pride I endorse Richard Lunt for the position of Greenlee County Supervisor District 3 for the term 2021-2024. He is the right person for this position because of his knowledge and background in local, county and state government.
I had the opportunity to have served with Richard during my tenure as Greenlee County Supervisor for District 2 for 5 terms, 1992-2011. Richard and I served together from 2005-2012. He was re-elected in 2017 for a very good reason. I had the fortune to see Richard's skills, knowledge understanding of local, state and federal government. I also got to see a newly elected Supervisor grow his skills and knowledge and understanding of county government in a very short time.
His educational background with a Master’s degree in Educational Administration and Bachelor degrees in Animal Science and Agricultural Education gave him more than just insight of this position, but gave him a full understanding of how county government works. He is quick to learn and understand.
Apart from that, he is a very reliable and experienced person. Richard is one of those people that connects dots really fast and is able to develop strategies without much difficulty. He is very experienced and good and understands county budgets.
Richards national, state and local leadership experience is outstanding. He has served and is serving in many local, county, state and national boards and associations which makes him an asset to Greenlee County as a Supervisor having contacts available to him.
Richard is willing and able to work hard and work full time as County Supervisor for the betterment of Greenlee County and District 3.
After the above mentioned, I strongly support RICHARD G. LUNT for Greenlee County Supervisor District 3. He is an asset to Greenlee County and you will not find anyone more dedicated to this position than Richard. Born and raised in Greenlee County, this is his home and he cares very much for the people and the betterment of his district and Greenlee County.
Hector Ruedas, Retired Greenlee County Supervisor

Amanda Calloway Endorsement

Dear Mr. Lunt,

I wanted to take the opportunity to let you know how much you are appreciated. Though the Greenlee County Fair was different this year, it was so much fun, a different kind of fun. The smell in the air was different. The variety of crowd, the auction participants and the vendors were different, but the buyers from local businesses were there to support the kids.
While assisting my nephew in the task of pig washing, I heard a familiar voice. I looked across the show ring and there you were with a happy disposition, as you have been for as long as I can remember, for at least the last 30 plus years. Even though your face donned a mask, you could still see a smile on your face and see how you treated each child as if they and their animal were the Grand Champion Showman. I can recall all the years you were behind the scenes in one way or another. From showing a green hand a thing or two in the ring before a show, to taking over a parent's duty when they got called out or lending a hand to wash a pig, you were there. I even recall the times you’ve explained to a child that the animal they have paid for, worked hard for and cared for, now has to be put down because they were sick a week before the fair. Better yet, sometimes you have been able to save the animal.
Your kindness to children, including myself as a child, has been so welcome and much appreciated. You and your wife have fed, given service to, and mourned with us as a community, and privately as friends. Thank you again for being an amazing man and mentor to so many children who have grown into great adults.

Western Interstate Region Works on Public Land Issues

I represent the state of Arizona on the Western Interstate Region of the National Association of County Officials. This is a group of 15 western states that help set policies in the federal government that impact the western United States. The west has different needs than other parts of the country and they are better addressed by working together as 15 states than as just one small county. Most public land is in the west and we address many of the issues regarding public land.

Vote to re-elect Richard Lunt on November 3rd for Greenlee County Supervisor District #3!

Lobbying Congress is a Big Part of the Job

Lobbying the US congress for money is a big part of a supervisors job. We need money from the federal government to help fund roads, schools, law enforcement and search and rescue. I have been there building relationships and fighting for the funds we need.
